I need an Arisaka 99 expert

Just got a nice rifle. Checked the headspacing. Everything checks out. but when I go to fire it the firing pin just barely dents the primer. I've spent many hours looking at this thing and can't figure it out..... The only thing I can find is that I think this bolt end piece has a suspicious looking stop bump that looks like it was welded.... and I'm thinking in the wrong position:




I think that bump stops the firing pin too early and doesn't let it hit the primer with enough force. When I look at this photo:

it looks like the bump should be down quite a bit further. When I measure the top of the bump to the bottom edge of the rod I get 24 mm.... can anybody check theirs and compare ? I'd really appreciate the help.

How's the spring tension on the firing pin? Sounds like it's old and tired.

Was able to figure it out. it was the stop tab on the safety... others speculated that the safety was from a type 38... all I did was grind it off and make a new bump in the right place... rifle works perfect now... thanks.
