    Speaking of Rock Island Armory..

My neighbor has a nice carbine he is selling due to long time unemployment. It was an Inland mixmaster that had the receiver crack in the late 70s or early 80s. Back then, USGI carbine receivers were non-existent e sent it to a gunsmith to have a Rock Island Armory Carbine receiver put on it. I read the M1icon Carbines Inc. write up on them, but there was not really much info there. Anyone have an idea of a value for him? I said $600 + or -, but there are so few, I really have nothing to judge it by any better. Any guidance or insights to the carbine itself are appreciated.

RIA made more then a few receivers. They also made the receivers for their sister company SA. While not as common as Plainfield's or Universals they did make a few thousand of them. The quality was excellent and I think your in the ball park with a $600 estimate on it.

Its a nice clean carbine. I wish I had the $$$$$ I would buy it for a shooter. However, picking up items before the ban takes effect 12-31-13, I grabbed a 300 Blackout upper, brass, dies, bullets, etc for one of my AR15 lower halves, and a PTR91 7.62x52mm (HK91 clone) have cleaned me out. Dang, maybe I can work something out with him. Id like to pick up another carbine before the ban.

Unfortunately, California does not have a "pocket veto". If he doesn't sign it, it automatically becomes law. Brown can then blame it on the legislature.

I will register them, because a safe full of "felony sticks" is useless to me, and I want to shoot them. If it comes to confiscation, they have a home in Elko NV at my best friends house in his safes.

It seems that as of today the Gov. vetoed the bill as being far too broad and not being more specific as to what should be banned and what shouldn't be.

Yep, he specifically cited that it would have affected ownership of historical and collectable firearms, and "THAT IT WOULD INFRINGE ON GUN OWNERS RIGHTS." It is a victory for sure.
