    Inland Carbine (Pic Heavy)

Just picked this up today. Kind of new to carbines. Posted a little while ago with a Saginaw, but I couldn't pass up this Inland. Let me know what you think. I can tell it isn't in "original configuration" but thats about it. There is a "ding" on the fore end stock. It looks like someone caused some damage then sanded it.

Well, for the most part I have been very pleased with this rifle. It has functioned exceptionally well over the last 4 or so months that I have had it. However, yesterday they slide broke while my girlfriend was using it. She likes it a lot so it kind of stunk. I'm not exactly sure what the deal is. I assume I can simply get a new slide to replace it and things should work just fine. Looks like a clean break on the old one.

It was just your turn in the barrel - the slide was cracked when you got it and finally just broke. I'd put a Type V slide on it. That's the one with the angled point on the top. The purpose was to slightly delay bolt opening to allow gas pressure to drop more. Other than that, you want to check barrel/receiver alignment to make sure the slide is not in a bind, but if you were shooting straight without moving the rear sight much from the position shown, most likely alignment is fine. I would also look for a better hand guard - a two-rivet OI. I don't know how mine got through with it's original Type II barrel band (//) but I'm glad it did. I've had it for 22 years now.
Like mine, yours has the 'Big Three' original parts that have stayed together since 1944 - receiver, barrel and trigger housing.
