AFPG Garand who can help restify?

I have a earlier AFPG 30'06 Garandicon that came thru as a service grade. Of course the nifty custom windage knob, spring and ball were gone, it was in CMPicon wood. The rest of it apoears beautiful and in match form. As someone who has spent 15 summers at Camp Perry and also owns a whole bunch of collector and competition rifles I would like to get a new windage knob made, find a nice piece of walnut and have the old areasenal style bedding put in, hand guards and ferrule glued and screwed and shoot it!!! I know it's never gonna be as it came originally but I would like it close even with new parts. The last couple gunsmiths I talked to either accused me of trying to build a fake or just flat out refused to touch it. My cash is green any help would be appreciated.
