    1903a4

    Hello there,

I am looking at the remington z series sniper on guns international.

Aside from the price any thoughts?

Help appreciated. These things are as rare as rocking horse poo at my end of the world!

    Craig

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Took a little searching, but.....
1903 A3 Sniper U.S. Remington World War - Military Rifles US

The seller apparently is unaware that it is a 1903A4 rifle, so that may cut down on the number of folks who actually find the listing.

I think it is probably a righteous arsenal rebuilt rifle. I'd like to see better (closer) photos of everything, especially the bolt & front sight area.

Guns International is just a listing service. If you do not have a US Agent, you will need to find out if the seller is willing to export.

I believe that the link is guninternational.com
Many of the more relevant pictures are missing, IMHO the Weaver scope is commercial.

Scope and scope rings look to once have been replaced. Request additional pictures of the barrel markings and the bolt, to see whether they are still original. Z-prefix are rarer, that is true. However, unless you're especially looking for a Z-prefix rifle they do not seem to get any premium compared to other 1903A4 snipers. Two of my four 1903A4 are Z-prefix, and I didn't really searched to get Z-prefix rifles (also paid the same as for a normal 1903A4).

This rifle was listed on Gunbroker in July 2013. The GB auction specified a Sept 43 barrel which would be correct for a "Z". I have my doubts about the stock. By the time the "Z" series rifles were assembled I think the soks would have bee sourced from Keystone. Also my notes fom last July indicate a full complement of inspection and accreptance stamps (RA, Ordnance Escutcheon, FJA) Its looks that only the FJA is present now. The rest of the details seem unchanged.

Jim, if you look closely I think the RA is still there behind the cross bolt, but it's faint. I don't see the cross cannons but the angle and picture isn't all that good. The stock appears to be an SA C stock and agree, probably too late for that. Possibly a CMPicon Auction receiver?
