I think the rear sight was put on after the fact, And the color and the wear are not uniformed with the rec. This make me think its been fooled with and a good fake.

Other than being on backwards, an adjustable sight may be "more" correct. I have 5.218 mil with an original Pl adjustable. Not sure of the originality of that flip either...

The flip safety doesn't look appropriate either.

Isn't that an awfully high number to have a flip sight?

No it's not. When the adjustable sights were started they were in demand by all of the makers but production of the type 2 and 3 was always in short supply. When a maker ran out they had to keep the line going so the type 1 sight was used till another batch of type 2 or 3 sights came in. In fact Inland used type 1 sights for two thirds of it's production in April/May 1945 time frame.

Thanks Bruce, I've ironed out my number mistake since and I was thinking about the beginning of the M2s at about 7 mil... Quite a distance in numbers.

The more I look at this carbine the better I like it, even though we don't know the trigger housing group particulars. The flip safety can be easily replaced with a correct push safety - or left alone as a battlefield replacement. The serial number offers flexibility in the 'correct' rear sight - if the platform is staked put an adjustable sight on it; if it is not staked replace the fake flip sight with an original flip sight. Both would be 'correct' for this serial number and either way it would not detract from the originality of the piece as it currently stands. If the barrel band is original, which it may well be, and the trigger housing group is all Inland, which it very well could be, then I think this is a little gem at the current price. One big negative is that the rear sight has been installed backward which may have severely damaged, or perhaps ruined, the dovetail. Sad given the fact that perhaps a Type II rear sight that was original to the carbine might have been knocked off and the fake flip sight installed to 'enhance' the value of the carbine, and in the end diminished it forever. I sent him a note through the GunBroker message system 4 or 5 days ago asking if the sight had be replaced. He said he did not mess with it and nobody else who has emailed has mentioned it. So it must be OK and that I didn't know what I was talking about. That told me all I needed to know about it.
