.303 Dum Dum identification
Hello
I have a 303 cartridge that I believe to be called a 'Dum Dum'.
It has a HP bullet and head-stamped: K C V and has a rounded primer.
Does this mean 'Kynoch Cordite Mark V' or is it a Kirkee manufactured round?
Regards....

Your round is a Ball Mark V made by Kynoch, Birmingham.
It is based on the hollow point rounds made at Dum Sum in India but is not a true Sum Dum round.
The true rounds were made at the eponymous arsenal in India and are headstamped "D" at 3 o'clock and "I" surmounted by a Broad Arrow a t 9 o'clock.

Annoying how they put the D and the S so close together on these keyboards, eh? Or is Dum Sum / Sum Dum something I've missed in my studies?
