Case, Sighting Telescope No 8 carrying strap.

    Hi Gents

I've been searching for the web carrying straps for my cloth covered CST No 8 Mk 2 container for a few months, no luck. I do happen to have a spare NOS leather strap for the CST No 8 Mk 1 metal container that came with my L42A1 purchase last year.

Does anyone know of someone who might want to exchange carrying straps? Is this a fair request?

    Thanks
    David

I don't have any of the harnesses for the No.8Mk.2 scope case. I've had spare complete cases in the past but have never seen a spare harness.

Should be simplicity itself to make if you can find a roll of the narrow webbing. The old equipment repairers ( another of the long lost forgotten trades) used to have rolls of the stuff and the buckles. Last used when we used to repair the kit for MILAN missiles.

In the days of '37 pattern kit we used to have a multitude of what were called 'STRAPS, utility' of various lengths/thicknesses. Maybe the way to go is to find a load of these utility straps and have them cut/sewn to fit. I seem to remember that there were some long narrow straps that were used to retain your steel helmet to the back of the large pack. But if you do, don't just do 1. Do a few and sell them on because as sure as god made little green apples, if YOU need one, then so will a dozen others!
