Looks like an Indian RFI '07 Bayonet definitely not long enough to be Britishicon or Australianicon 07. I may be incorrect there in my take on it, dam fine looking rifle though has the brass sling front band like my '45 Lithgow Mk III cannot tell but are the back sight protector ears milled out hard to tell looks like it.

It is a RFI bayonet. I didn't realize it was Indian. It is odd normally before or after I buy a rifle or pistol I will get a book and research it. I bought the Bayonet at a gun store when I was a Jr in High school 92 because I thought it was cool and it wasn't too expensive. I didn't even know what it was for until I brought it to another gun store with these old guys I trusted. The one said it was for a Lee Enfield. Not sure if they told me more about the bayonet or not. You know in High school you don't always listen. Any ways the one guy goes take a look at this and from the back room brought out the Lithgowicon in the picture. I lusted for it, so he hung on to it until I saved up the money to buy it. I have learned so much since then and learn about the fire arms before I buy them. Saved me recently from paying collector price for refinished shooter Luger and P38 Walther, so I passed.

So how much does a nice Lithgow bayonet cost? I have not really been prowling the gun shows,, are there any other recommended places to buy them?

    Thanks
    Martin

They fluctuate depending on condition and stampings and how much your willing to fork out I have matched my 5MD '16 Lithgow Mk III with the correct 5MD stamped '16 07 and Lithgow Scabb 5MD 1916 as I was born and bred in Western Australiaicon.
The latter 2 cost more than the rifle and a long time to get in what I wanted in that they were in pristine condition, same for my 1945 Lithgow Mk III both scabb & Bayo the same year '45 and Lithgow manufacture again costly.

Work in the range for a good one with scabbard $170 ~ $220.oo AU for say an EFD and $260.oo & upwards for Lithgow's and go from there if you just want a not so good one say not a Lithgow you can get them as low as $100.00 or less.
But as always do your research and enjoy yourself, Skennertons Commonwealth Bayonets is a good source for checking if you have a friend who has a copy you could look at but not worth buying for just 1 bayonet's information.

That site (fleabay) has oodles of 07's but study the pics well and ask questions sometimes you can get a bargain "sometimes"
