    My M1

Hi, new to this forum and thought I would share a few of my rifles. Decided to start with the M1icon Garand. All parts except for the hammer and safety (which is G.I. modified) are of the correct time and SA. Also was rebarreled in Nov. 65. I never checked any of the barrel wear which I know is a sin for M1 collectors but I didn't pay much and it shoots straight . There are no identifying marks on the stock and the sling is of Korean origin. No import mark. I can't imagine this being CMPicon sold since they usually atleast clean them. I had to clean out almost a beach full of sand out of the trigger assembly when I got it haha.

Looks good and don't worry so much about the muzzle and throat wear. If it shoots then it shoots. I've never been able to check those two things...and I've had a pile of M1s.

May have been a Korean import. A former owner may have re-barreled it, which would explain the lack of import markings. The stock looks like it may be Chinese Chue or is it Chee, wood. (not sure of the spelling).

The stock is beech. You can tell easily by the figure. That's what the Danishicon used for replacement wood. If it's sanded, it will sand down until it's like glass and you'll never get stain to penetrate. The uppers are Walnut. Chu wood is more like box wood, or gum wood.
    Regards, Jim
