I was changing the bolt head of my freshly restored Long Lee and I knocked it over, yes it was standing up since horizontal space is at a premium in the workshop. as the result I knocked the front sight off. it looked to have been mucked about with in the past since there were voids under it which were filled with muck.
Anyone have any experience resoldering a long lee foresight back on?

The voids are consistent with the way the sight was made. My best guess is that the sight was cast iron and soldered on the barrel. It was finished before browning. If the part fits the barrel indicating it is original, you might consider Brownell's silver solder paste or the original in place solder to reattach. If using the paste, lightly clean mating areas, paste and spring clamp it to hold in place as the solder melts. Good luck. I have one waiting as I didn't get the front sight/base with the rifle.
Ill see if I can source some silver solder paste, I recently turned up a loose foresight which ill reattach, since the original one had been molested at some stage.
