As an alternative to shims on top of the charger guide, drill and tap two holes, centered on the ends of the bridge, down through the Fulton's/Armalon/S&K base. Use a suitably sized thread and set screws in the holes, round & polish the ends of the set screws so they don't mar the finish on the bridge. You can then adjust the screws to give even bearing on both sides of the bridge for whatever angle you want to set the sight base at.
This would only be practicable with the steel bases probably, so the S&K is doubtful.
Quick detach rings would allow the scope to be taken off the base so that the set screws can be adjusted if necessary. Once set, a bit of loctite on the set screws might be advisable.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.

I am really hoping QD rings will work. I have some Larue Tacticals for a different gun but it is not cheap. I heard Warne was good but like Brian Dick said, need the Millet if I want to correct for windage.

On the other hand, save yourself all of this bother and get yourself a cheap(?) old No4 and convert it to a No4T look-a-like using repro pads and bracket. FULL details are on this very site somewhere.
But whatever you do, do not molest your original rifle with holes etc etc that will immediately devalue it
Then, at the end of it you STILL have your untouched Mk2 PLUS a valuable, good, serviceable, reliable and desirable No4T replica

Thanks Peter. Maybe for the next one . Not too much bother really, and part of the fun has been figuring all this stuff out. I am trying not to molest the poor rifle with anything permanent... maybe not the best choice of words; I will not drill or otherwise modify the weapon, let's say.

`The charger bridge was never intended to be a datum for aligning a telescope over the centerline of the bore so you must improvise, overcome and adapt!´
Agree ... the Fulton/Armalon `smithless´ solution c a n be made to work but (for me) is not a permanent solution and is not worth the effort. Have now got the Canadian mount on mine.
