Manufactured in Yorkshire at the ROF Maltby factory in 1943 - Served its time, kept 'on issue' for a few years after the war, then went into storage for a few more years, then sold off into the UK civilian gun market (hence the UK proof marks) eventually made it to the USA prior to 1968 (hence the pre-1968 US Import mark)
Bubbarised, and eventually made into your hands.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
