1903a1
Just picked this one up by chance this morning, had gone to my local dealers to move a couple of rifles taking up space in the safe.
I think this rounds out the American theme of my collection well, its all original with no markings at all on the stock. The bore is a 9/10 if not better, I jumped on it due to the condition and because I have a genuine Kerr sling at home, looks like the one on it is from an
M1917??

Certainly not an expert by any stretch but you have a nice looking re-arsenlled high serial numbered 03. The bolt appears to be straight handled, look for a stamping on the bottom of the safety lug for id. I'm guessing the barrel date is 1942? Any stamps on the wood? Better pictures and more information would be needed.

rifle is a 1903..not a 1903A1...rebuild at some point, scant grip stock is a replacement for sure

Yes , that is a 1917 Kerr sling on it now . A Springfied Kerr sling would not need the triple pass at the back to draw up tight.

Dropped past and swapped out the sling for the appropriate Kerr 1903 which I had purchased late last year. I accept its not a 1903A1, for what limited surfing I did on the web yesterday I made an assumption based on the information I found.
The barrel is a '42 but in very good condition for its age, I will post some better photos once it's in my possession.
I can tell you alot about No4 T's, GEW98's, VZ-24's, K98's, P14's and M1917's, each new rifle I add to my collection I spend hours online researching.
For everyone that contributes to this wealth of information you have my humblest of thanks.

See the introduction for a description of the various models of the '03. The scant grip stock is essentially the same as the STOCK, m1903A! except that wartime requirements necessitated using blanks with slightly less wood in the grip area.
