    Nm 1903

I especially like the 1903 NM rifle listed below (not an auction) because of the (must have been custom made in 1931) scant stock and the really fine quality engraving on the bolt, not to mention the super low price.

Why would you think it is a NM 1903 rifle ? That NRA, SPG and DAL stamps are fake, scant stock is a later configuration stock and lack of a star gage stamp on the barrel. The complete serial number may help

You didn't get it! My post was intended to be satire. The rifle is a really horrible fake.

Too bad about the barrel. I didn't even read the description because it's not needed...but thought the rifle would be decent as a shooter. Except the crown of the barrel shows obvious pitting...so there goes that idea.

How do I hate thee (speaking about the ad!), let me count the ways

    1) Scant stock with fake markings (and not even GOOD fake markings!)

    2) Fake inscribed bolt

    3) Gee, as the OP said, a ULTRA RARE pre-WWII Scant stock!!

    4) A price about five times greater than the worth

    5) A 1922 buttplate.

1405922 is actually an NM, but this one is 1405929.

It does have a really cool rear sight, does that help?

The Lyman 48 was a commercial sight which was installed "aftermarket" on numerous M1903s, both military and civilian.

From what I've seen on Cabelas' part on previous firearms, could be a colossal dose of ignorance, too. They knowledge of military rifles leaves a lot to be desired

    Cabela's

I recently looked and laughed at a Winchester Mod 12 at a Cabela's. It was US marked with riot gun length barrel marked full choke (obviously cut down), and no stock cartouche, plus well worn. The price? Over 2 grand. The sad thing is, someone bought it.
