Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I blew the pic up without waking him...looks like he lost his buttplate for the carbine...I'd still have it though. Belt and contents too.

You could slide that steel pot way down your neck and your head would just hang there in the webbing, actually pretty comfortable way to nap.

A great photo of combat fatigue. Only after sleepless night after sleepless night could a soldier fall asleep in mid-day on a pile of rocks -- some mattress! Even a gun blast wouldn't wake this guy. Hope he got a good sleep and made it through the war. What is the insignia on his helmet?

That was sort of my though. Thus the ability to sleep. A kid might not quite be so calm...if that's the right way to put it.
