    ID for this helmet







    No identifying marks, size etc, Looks like it has modern suspension.

    I think it's an East Germanicon, National People's Army, M56 helmet.

    You are right.

    I did not pick up on it right away but there was a number of Russianicon things with that helmet.

    A very large piece of cardboard with about 50 stick pins of Lenin and two very cheap medals that looked more Frenchicon then Russian. Thanks again. I never would have been able to ID helmet!

    Cold War era East German M56/ 76

    I can see the date of manufacture, the shell was made in March 1970 or 1979?

    if you look above these marks you should also see the Roman numerals like a II for the shell size, these were manufactured in 3 shell sizes

    this is the late model M56 , M56/76 with adjustable liner and smooth shell without rivets

    I = small II = medium III = large

    03 [month]

    70 [year]

    these were also used in the Vietnam War, here is a photo of a North Vietnamese soldier wearing one of these East Germanicon helmets with a captured US airman.
