Sales rifle Springfield Model 1922MI ?

Hello,

I purchased this rifle and although I have researched some over the last few years it would interest me how much of this rifle is original.

The things that I know about it are the barrel is marked 10/26 and the receiver is marked M1922MI. I think it is a NRA sales rifles as the barrel is D&T rearward of the stock band. That's about it,so if there are any experts out there, I would be highly appreciative of your thoughts on my new rifle....good or bad.Does the finish bluing look original?

Herschel was kind enough to give me his thoughts on this rifle:

"Roger,

Congratulations. Your rifle is on the SRS list as having been sold on 120729. As best I can tell the finish and parts of your rifle are original except for the bolt and magazine. If the bolt was replaced by Springfield Armory it would have the rifle serial number written in DC electric pencil on the bottom with some digits on either side of the line where the front and rear parts of the bolt meet. Normally a B was stamped after the serial number and an additional I was stamped after the model number when the rifles was upgraded with M2 parts. The rifle was sold in 1929 and bolt that is now in it did not go into production until about 1935. It had to be a replacement either by SA or by the owner who could have bought the parts from the DCM. I would say your rifle should sell in the $X,000.00 range. It would probably be worth more if the bolt and magazine were original."
