    Husqvarna m/41???

Hey all, a local guy has an ad that just says "Husqvarna 6.5x55 Swedishicon Mauser". Upon inspection of the photos, it appears to be an m/38 with that turn down bolt. It looks to be in great shape. My Swedish Mauser knowledge is quite deplorable. The guy wants 350 for it. What is this thing and is it worth it (I assume non-matching numbers)

Looks like a M38, likely manufactured in 1941 based on the description the other guy has. If your in Canadaicon 350$ is fair for matching numbers, if it isn't I would offer a bit less.

Most Swedes are all matching so I would ask. I doubt you'll find one cheaper than $350 matching or non-matching that isn't beat to crap. That one looks pretty nice. I'd want some more information on it first though. M38's at the shows seem to start at $300 and go up pretty fast. Most are in the $400+ range.

Ok, I am meeting the person at a local gun store tomorrow to inspect the rifle. If the bore is in goodshape and everything checks out I will pick it up. It was not high on the priority list, but after your replies I don't want to pass this up. I willlet you know how it pans out. Anything in particular I need to look out for?

A lot of these were made with a screw tip muzzle made for an attachment of some sort by the Swedes. This one already has the cap if it has this feature. Doesn't really affect the value that I'm aware. Most Swedes are in pretty good shape unless they were abused by a civilian owner so I wouldn't expect any major issues. It's just Bubba you have to worry about.

Don't be concerned if say the "Cocking piece" or "safety" do not match or are not numbered. These parts wear and are easy & inexpensive to replace.

$350 is a very fair price and you will LOVE this shooter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I did indeed grab that rifle. The bore looked kinda rough at first glance but after a few wet patches and some minor scrubbing it shines like a mirror. It apparently came from a storage unit auction and appears to have been there for a very long time. The import mark was almost impossible to find. It was imported by CDI in Swanton VT. The gun is in immaculate condition. Two parts on the bolt appear to have been armory replaced (Cocking piece and safety) since they have the crown acceptance stamps but electropenciled serials. The stock could use a coat of BLOicon because it is extremely dried out (storage facility was in Nevada apparently) What do y'all think? Oh, and thank you for all your help.

Here's what I think......... Put some rounds down that pipe!!!!!!

For me this this was a "Fall in Love" rifle. So much so, I now own 3 m38's, m96, 96/38, m1894 and a Ljungman. Also just purchased one that was "sport-erized" by Kimber USAicon back in the 90's.

    Enjoy it!!!!!!!!
