    The year of manufacture for serial number 3940096 is 1942. Remington 1903A3 production started in 1942 at number 3348086. U.S. Military Dates of Manufacture

    Probably not. The receiver probably went into a bin and wasn't used until then.

    You're looking at a table that has incorrect information - it lists ALL 03A3s as "1942". The serialization of the receiver, like the barrel, happened in Sept., 1943.

    No problem - I still run into this obsolete table fairly often. I believe it originated from a NPS website for Springfield Armory NHS.

    A few years ago, I remember one guy who had an all correct Remington M1903 - the table said that ALL Rem. 03s were "1941". He had a original 1942 barrel but he was going to install another barrel to make it "correct"!!
