OT question for the UK RFD's amongst us?

Does anyone know what the restrictions / regs are regarding firearms storage out of Constabulary area? I've been offered the use of an Armoury that's fully alarmed and passed by the Police but it's not in my Constabulary.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Sorry cannot help just now. Anything in the Guidance to Police? It might be worth sending an e mail to the Firearms Unit at the Home Office as they should know and if the reply is favourable you can TELL the Police it's OK.

Simon, IIRC its similar as to dual storage on your FAC, but only storage, as for any business or trading on that patch ( storage of firearms is related to business), The Constabulary should be informed and written permission obtained from them until an RFD issued, plus your local Constabulary informed etc.

I know a dealer (south of our border) who am sure was in a similar predicament or he knew someone, at one point his business was based in Sussex but he was in Essex (or vice versa) and had two RFD,s Will give him a bell, haven't spoke in a while.

By the way your tin is done, forgot all about it.....

I suspect that you will need to get a sepertate Certificate of Registration as a Firearms dealer from the new Constabulary area.
Even though it is only for storage, firearms would be held in an area outside the authority area granted in your original RFD. The additional RFD certificate would allow you to "trade" from the new site in the same way that certificates issued by the Surrey Police allow us to "trade" at Bisley and similarly by the West Midlands police that allows us to trade at Birmingham. If you contact the new Constabulary area firearms department they should be able to supply you with the necessary forms, I have seperate RFD certificates for both Bisley and Birmingham they cost at present £12 for each area and run concurrently with my main RFD certificate. If you need contact details for the new area PM me and I will send them to you.

Thanks for the above Paul, I,d thought they had knocked it on the head regarding the additional certs......

Additional place of business certificate (for game fairs, trade fairs or exhibitions, agricultural
shows or an event of a similar character and where the RFD is registered in another force area) =
    £12
    • Additional place of business certificate (for game fairs, trade fairs or exhibitions, agricultural
shows or an event of a similar character and where the RFD is registered in the same force area) =
    No fee

Suppose its similar to the old pedlar's rules

My RFD certificate issued by South Wales Police (cost £150 for two years) covers me only for that force area anywhere outside needs additional certificates at a cost of £12 per area.

It's never fails to surprise me the amount of people who don't realise that you need a Surrey or West Mids Ticket etc for Bisley or the Bike Museum.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

To be honest, I've never understood why, as a Surrey RFD, I need a separate RFD certificate for Bisley....

Why should RFDs have multiple certificates in order to trade around a tiny country like UKicon?

I'm surprised the Police aren't complaining about lack of resources for dealing with this bureaucratic mountain they've created. Oh, wait....

Does seem a bit ridiculous if you're already under Surrey but it's all to do with "additional places of business".
