The MoD recently gave 400 rifles to the Bermuda Regiment.
Notice, I said "gave". Well, would you BUY one?

I'm sure Harry will agree that the A2 version became an acceptable rifle. I didn't say perfect, but acceptable!

The standard A2 changed my opinion and I'm not just saying that because It would have been bad form to NOT say it. It was good. It became an unwieldly wannabe when all the crap was screwed and strapped onto it for Afghn.

Reminds me of Gulf 1 when so said, the crunchies were using black tank tape to repair it in the field. Afterwards 150 rifles decked out in gaffer tape were taken from stores and brought to the trials wing at work to investigate the 'problems'. It wasn't broken parts, lost screws etc etc.................. It was to make the rifle look warry and mean! Obviously some parts were broken/snapped of course........

When we had the A1, it was standard practice to tape the fore end to stop the fore end top cover from unlatching itself and flapping about in the wind, getting caught up on your webbing/combat jacket pocket/vehicle cam net or passing trolley busses.
Peter's right, the A2 is a big improvement, I've yet to see bits falling off it, while the A1 was infamous for shedding its small parts.
