    Best C&R on the planet

    Hi Guys,

I just returned from Coeur d'Alene to meet my new grand daughter, whole other story.

Anyway, I went to check out the "Antique Gun Shoppe & Military Items" down the road in Post Falls. AWSOME is too mild, all museum quality. They had everything from what the Plymouth Rock crew carried, to desert storm mortar team, and everything in between, before and after. Injun & cowboy stuff too, flint and obsidian.

I took many pictures on my company phone, and as soon as I figure out how to get them online I'll post. I talked to the owner, Gene E. Mattox, who had just returned from the Portland show, said it would be okay to share with.

    Sorry for the teaser. PAX

Those are some amazing items that store has. I have a bad feeling though that every single item there is priced either on the high side of retail or grossly overpriced.

    Question

God awfull Good and Varied collection!
My question would be "How much, if any, of this stuff is for sale"?
If it is all for sale, I see several items I'd like to have.

Much is for sale. I had him quote me a price for a 1917 Enfield sling, but didn't know which one was correct. If you look closely, you can see the price tags on a lot of items.

burb, his prices seem fair, but most all were out of my league. Everything was quality or very rare. You ever purchase museum grade? He just had come back from the Portland show where he hand picked a couple dozen rifles. You ever but a couple dozen choice weapons before? You're talkin new car money.

I'm as cheap as you can get, but if you want or need it what are you willing to pay.

He may have some thing priced high so they stay in the shop. He himself says it's more of a museum than store. PAX

Echo I'm glad I finally get to see a dealer who isn't asking the moon for most of his stuff. I do from time to time see museum quality items but those are for lack of a better term only in museums here. Most of the milsurps items I end up finding the majority of the time are beat up, chopped up, and all around used and abused. The few decent condition items I run across the sellers are almost always asking the moon. I have bought a couple of rifles I would say were museum quality because of the rarity and history on them, not so much on their overall condition.

I know what you mean. I just picked up a sportered 1917 Enfield. Luckily only the stock was toast, and I happened to aquire an Enfield stock (T99 barreled action, 3 #1 stocks) in a batch of estate sale C&Rs I picked up before Kali screwed that up. I have no idea what Japaneseicon officers sword, Afrika Corps helmet, or Hitler youth dagger would go for. Unless I stumble on them at a yard sale for dirt, I'll never own any. I'm going there again when I have more time and a couple bucks. PAX
