    Late Inland barrel band- JI

I have a late Inland handstamp that appears all correct(6.770 mill), but I am wondering about the type III barrel band maker. I'm curious because War Baby doesn't list this type III as one of those found on late Inlands, while Riesch, on the other hand does.

War Baby says AI, SI, and KI were all used in the 6 million block. Riesch lists AI, SI, and KI as well, but also adds H.I. and my JI to the list.

I do have a few late inlands in this serial number block, and all have the AI, SI, or KI bands. Now I have this one with the JI stamp. JI is not listed as being one of the post war bands, so I'm guessing this WWII band is a little more rare? Does anyone else here have a late Inland with the "JI" type III barrel band?

Anyways, thanks for any info. Good to see so many familiar faces here! Your combined knowledge and willingness to share has helped me a lot the past few years.

Thanks for the information. Just wondering why it wasn't listed in War Baby(pg. 347). Has been said that the carbine reference books are not perfect by any means...but War Baby beats the others by a long shot.

Maybe this particular barrel band was a very late WWII item similar in time frame to the rotary safteys marked EI or HI? Only one of my late Inlands has a rotary saftey(H.I.). It's a 6.8 mill.

One of these days I'll fork over the dough and buy the set of past CC letters. Maybe one of the older ones had a write up on late Inlands. I've only got the newsletters for the past three years.

Get in touch with Bill Ricca. Here is a link too his myth page and that has a contact hotlink at the yop of the page. He probably has some info on when they were used.

Researchers like Bill are finding new info almost weekly. No book, no matter how current, will have everything in it. And not everything in it will be 100% correct. Plus, there are a lot of contractors who have yet to be identified!
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
