L42A1 with Leatherwood ART 2
Can anybody shed any light on this combination? How many were fitted or dates when they were either trialled or used?[70409[/ATTACH][/ATTACH]

I purchased one exactly so in the 1990's but passed it on after a few years. I was told it had been used in trials, probably in the 1970's, but was given no evidence to back this up.

These never got out past the first hurdle for several reasons. Compared with the No32 and the rest of tghe worlds sniper telescopes, just how complicated does a sniper telescope have to be. Not waterproof enough for the UK
climate either
Added later...... I recall that there was a problem with the clicker mechanism too. There wasn't a positive 'click' method or if there was, it didn't equate to anything. I have/had the brief trial notes on microfische. Difficult to read/very grainy.

Saw such an ART set up photographed in Jane's Infantry Weapons in several late 1970s editions. (Under the optics section.) Was thinking it was the earlier AR TEL version, but it's been a while.

Some modifications to the windage drum by the look of it. Losing the cap was a good start.
