grenade launcher 1914 shtle
hi, Ive had enfields since i was a boy and now in my 50's have run accross an oddity -its a grenade launcher version and its early
GR enfield /1914/ shtle III made in england serial appears to be J1214 can anyone help me with details -id like to find the cannister as well (launcher part) regards -richard

Hello Rescuemedic and welcome to the forum!
Not an "oddity" really as many thousands of SMLE's were converted to grenade firing duty for various condition reasons and you will find examples with earlier dates than yours. The grenade launcher cups can be found on various auction sites pretty regularly. Post some pics so we can have a look.

I have two types of grenade launchers for the SMLE Mk III.. One is held on the rifle by the bayonet and uses a rod on the 'mills bomb'. The other is the more common 'discharger' that is fixed to the front sight protector, and uses a large "washer" on the grenade to fit the 'discharger'.
