    Hoffer Thompson Gallery Rifles

Just want to say hello as I am new to this forum...been collecting for a short while and been reading some about the Springfield chambered in 22cal ...I keep reading that about 15000 had been made, many were destroyed and many converted back to 30/06. Anybody have any info on how many still exist, just how rare are they ?

The Thompson-Hoffer conversion requires a special "cartridge holder" which is a steel case to fit the chamber and work from the magazine (these are around $100 nowdays). The Thompson-Hoffer was chambered
for the 22 short cartridge only. Some have rechambered them to fire the 22 Long Rifle but the twist is not correct and not very accurate.

You would be better with a 1903 made in 22 Long rifle (M2) and they are very accurate and do not overlook the Lee Enfield 22 Long Rifle conversions either

Thanks for the advice but what I was really wondering was how many actually survived being outright destroyed or rebarreling...I understand they are pretty rare since only 15000 were made but anyone know how many survived ??
