VICE Marks
I have an 1920 dated 03 that has the original barrel however it has vice marks on the receiver I always figured Bubba had tried to take the barrel off. it has none of the hall marks of a Marine 03 but I thought I would post a pics of the vice marks anyway just incase they are indicative of a marine rifleAttachment 74664Attachment 74663Attachment 74665

Vise marks
Vise marks on a barrel will be USMC. Damage to the receiver will be Bubba. Sorry.

Yep, those are pipewrench. Only used if the barrel is garbage. Still, I'd be using the right wrench just because I have it.

Pipe wrench marks are common on USMC rifles.

no they arent,.
plumbers table or pipe fitters table was used,,, not a pipe wrench .
RCS has a picture of what those marks look like.

this is what was used, usually they had it bolted on a special pipe fitters table as well.
