I know that it isn't a "Milsurp" but...

I have laid down the money that I had to buy an A/O AOM 130 M1icon Carbine. I'm also installing an M2 magazine catch and purchasing 4 American-manufactured 30-round magazines from keepshooting. (These magazines have a good reputation for reliability).

I am hoping that I can perform a "fluff and buff" on this rifle, thus enhancing it's reliability. (The feed ramp and slide bearing surfaces are my main concern). I want to make sure that this Carbine will be reliable for HD/PD and small/medium game, short range (50-75 yard) applications.

If the SHTF where I'm living, 30 rounds of 110-grain JSP should do the job.

Does anyone have any experience with these units?

Magazines are a one time expense. I would think five, one in the carbine and four in a 30 round pouch should meet most peoples real needs. Bite the bullet, pun intended, and buy the real deal so as not to worry about them.

What about the "American" made ones first mentioned?
As for hardbacks I already have 4 in pouch that look to have never been in a carbine. I have other early splitbacks for shooting.

How hard is it to get the snap closed on yours? The material is starting to tear on mine at the base of the stud and you can see the marks on the flap where it contacts the mags. I have had guys tell me that those pouches were never designed for (4) mags, but instead for (2) mags along with some loaded stripper clips. Are the "American" made mags, the ones marked "USAicon"? - Bob

USGI; I also believe they were made for 2 mags. and then fill the front section with stripper clips. Mine just stay in the safe unsnapped. I also turn them opposite from each other, left/right. In your pic. turn the ones on the left around it's easier on the snap when closed.

They are indeed designed for two 30's and ammo up front. Wait until you get one that's been washed and has shrunk a bit...for a tight close. Yours is acting normally.

I'd wait a bit on the magazines as California is in the process of requiring their proletariat to either sell or turn into the gestapo all magazines in excess of 10 rounds. By 1/1/17 there may be a bunch available.
