L42A1 Markings
Can anyone confirm that this RSAF mark on the receiver of this L42 is Royal Small Arms Factory
May sound like a silly question, but I've seen it on some L42's and not others.
Any idea to the reason?

I think it is, RSAF Enfield 1970 marking, I see you are in my part of the Wild West.
Jealous of your Warlord badge by the way, do you still have the wallet it came with and ID card, must be worth as much as the L42 these days...

John, He wasn't the only follower of Peter Flint...... it was mentioned some time back, your probably right regarding the Brown wallet with the ID card and secret codes. I preferred Battle Action..... Charlie's War has to be one of the finest comic stories ever going.

I don't think that RSAF logo dated back that far Mr Clarke. What year is the rifle. But yes, it is the RSAF mark and a similar mark was also used as the proof mark etched onto new breech blocks etc etc for L4's, L1's and L7's

Ah, Battle Action Geoff, I can vividly remember the jaw dropping detail in the Charlie's War illustrations, works of art, probably the main influence in my young mind in sparking my interest in Lee Enfield's,milsurps and history in general.

Perhaps it's my eyes, but isn't that 1970 etched below the RSAF logo? Does anyone have contact with the Enfield Apprentices association, perhaps they could cast some light on why some L42A1's marked with the RSAF and other weren't.

Yes always preferred Battle myself - Johnny Red, Charley's War Etc had a bit more of an edge to it than Victor. Mind you always loved The Tough of The Track - Alf Tupper up all night welding, forced to run to the stadium after missing bus, vault track hoardings while finishing off fish and chips and beat mile world record.
