Small point on the butt stock and Jim is probably best qualified to answer, were the rubber butt pads on issue with original C8's? I had never seen them installed until the C7A2 and C8A2,3 appeared. I imagine they could have been lost or removed over time, on my own issued pieces I usually threw it away, as they had a tendency to hook on equipment and fall off anyway. Some guys would secure them with a zip (cable) tie but many were lost or removed in my experience.

Great point and question. This one had a rubber butt pad with it but as noted definitely not in original condition. Here is another pic with the 2-position extension.

I recall the C7A2 butts were a 3 position so I think you got the right piece for an original C8, just no idea about that butt pad, is it black or a dark olive/green colour?

The rubber pads we all had were an olive variation to somewhat blend with the green furniture of the A2 update.

The rubber butt pad on the right (with some wear on the inside) ... clearly black.

The one on the left is off a Colt Canadaicon C7A2.

The original butts were aluminum, very solid and a bit heavy. They were two position only and the butt pad came about ten years later. Maybe even a bit longer than that.
