I use strippers because of ammo storage too. At least with AR, and can load ten per pistol mag. It still makes loading for the range simple and quick. If I take a top up out then there's no fumbling loose rounds. With Carbine, it's like stated. Two mags per stripper and simple to load. Most guys I know don't use them because they don't have the practice and fumble terribly with them. I store ammo in them to keep it organized a bit.

This is exactly what I do with AR pistol magazines as well, stripper clips and magazine chargers for 5.56 being very available for some reason...
I remember loading 30 rounds in the C7 service mags, strip down 10, fling the old clip away by flipping your mag support hand, strip 10, repeat, load up a 30 round magazine in 3 seconds. Nowadays I tend to want to keep the stripper clips.

Those 3000 rounds on clips aren't going to feel like all that much if you end up with a few stand-to's before the next resupp.

We did have bandolers with them in VN.
Glad you brought this up JimF, reminded me of having about a dozen fully intact bandos from VN era stored away. I also believe I have a couple from the Korean era. I Had completely forgot about them as they are stored in a over flow locker, not often dug out.
Thx to the OP for bringing up the stripper clips/spoons. Forgot about having a extra stash of those passed along from a friend years ago that I packed in that same trunk.
I have been using about a 1/2 dozen of these strippers for times when I have 2-4 guests shooting. You know it keeps me hopping keeping them loaded and shooting.
These are the only times I find myself using them. When just burning time and ammo, I like just hand loading to give me time to settle down.
On a side note,
Miss you guys... time has been really limited. Hard to get a chance to sit down and chat. Harder yet to get to one of the computers with kids taking on line classes.
Hoping to get more "me" time as things settle down a bit this winter.
