    Greek Ammo

I have used the HXP ammo in my Garandicon and 03A3 for years. I've never experienced a single problem and I've been able to shoot some outstanding groups with it as well.

I'm halfway through my 5th can of HXP. So far no problems with any of it other than a few heavily corroded rounds of '67 that I culled out. I wouldn't use it for match ammo, but can't think of any other surplus stuff that I would either. The HXP brass is easy to reload with just the lightly staked primers. For the price, what is there not to like? I'd love to be able to afford nothing but match grade ammo, but have to feed the family before the rifles. Last year, even reloading was almost impossible unless you already had a good supply of components and powder on hand. If it wasn't for HXP, I'd have been looking at my M1icon's instead of shooting them.

you know that the CMPicon just had a fire sale on ammo last week, seems like for only one day, for 7.62 LC I think. This is the good stuff that we all need to see for sale and available. I agree about the Greek streak stuff. Practicing with it is good. Reloading it is even better///

HXP uses an indeterminate charge of Bangadang1 produced by the Passtheouzo Powder Co.

At this point, I have fired 1200 rounds of Greek with out a problem. The head stamps have been 70, 71, and 62. The best accuracy has come from the 62. Great ammo and not a single problem. I have started reloading the cases.

Keep in mind, the 'good' ammo everyone talks about (LC) was considered crap at the time. I have 300 174 grain match bullets someone broke down into componants because they considered the 174 grain match ammo to be 'crap'.

Everyone always pines for "The good ol' days" when they pass. When the rubber meets the road, it is all general issue GI surplus 'crap'. Just for your information, I did a comparison with some old LC I had sitting around and found it was just as good as the Greek. That 62 head spaced stuff actually shot BETTER. When the Greek is gone and the CMPicon gets something else, everyone will be saying "Man, I wish I could get some of that GOOD HXP ammo the CMP use to sell. This stuff from (insert name) is crap compared to it." It will happen; it always does.

You are complaining about ammo you are getting for free?

I've been shooting this stuff for awhile..While I don't get out with the M1icon as often as I like, I've still got a couple of cans ofthe stuff from the 70's (73 78) So far I haven't had any problems, the brass seems to be decent quality, I've probably got 2k of once fired, Like anything else, sooner or later this stuff will be gone. At todays prices, any commerically produced replacement will be very expensive, Thank god I reload, otherwise, the M1 would collect alot more dust...
