    Original M14 glass stock colour

Does anybody have a pic and/or some info on the original colour and finish of a fiberglass M14icon stock. I would actually like to "restore" mine instead of paint bombing it pink marpat. It had epoxy sealant automotive primer on it when I got it, so I bead blasted it at low pressure to remove it since chemical strippers wouldn't work. That left it grey- took it down to the base material but left the checkering sharp. I then coated it in resin to reinforce the old glass and a fresh coat of resin turned it purply brown. Is this the colour its supposed to be, or was it painted brown originally? If it was painted, what type of paint? Could someone post a good pic of the original finish? Thanks, Jeff

I actually used M14s with fiberglass stocks, and I'd describe the color as Fort Benning mud brown. The nearest match would be the Krylon camo brown color spray-on paint. The brown stocks usually came with a black hand guard, but some had the brown ventilated handguard that comes closest to matching the stock in color.

Same dull brown krylon type finish you can buy at crappy tire in their "camo" lineup.

A member on another forum has one that is actually a glossy finish, same colour but glossy, colour appears molded in. I don't know if he's a member here, but he's on CGN (Ardent)
