    Some people don't reload.

I don't reload, but I have had a brass box for years and sure not going to leave a lot of good brass ... or bad brass either for that matter .. lay around and go to waste. I may just wish to reload some day .. although with the times I may just have waited a bit too long to stock up on supplies. According to our local paper, the ammo "crisis" has finally reached Yuma, Arizona.

I know that a while back one of our larger gun shops e-mailed offering to purchase any extra loading supplies that someone may have laying around.

Has to be pretty lean out there when the shops are hitting their customers up for supplies. At any rate I have picked up and stored brass from the ranges that have provided well for friends that do reload. The really bad stuff ends up going to the recycler. Got to stay green ya know.

How about a box full of .50 AE nickeled brass? I've picked up a LOT of magnum brass at a local sighting in range. I finally broke down and bought a .300 WinMag from a guy, turns out I had about 50 empties in my bag of brass. I've even found .30 Remington brass in that bag.

Found 60 rds of Wolf 150 gr .308 in the live ammo disposal bin at our range. Some had slight dents on the primers, obviously a function problem in the previous owner's rifle. I greatly enjoyed shooting them up at the steel gong, they shot great.

Like dogtag, I think I am going to wait a lot time to find discarded BP cases...
But for the smokeless chamberings, so much once-fired brass is thrown away that I can now afford to be picky, and only recycle Norma, Lapua and Geco/RWS cases.

Recently I turned in a 5 gallon bucket full of old brass which was about 80% pickups and got $114 for it. (buck fifty a pound). One day I picked up 80 once fired Winchester .308 and the last trip I watched the man shoot and depart leaving 180 once fired Winchester .40 S&W brass. And that's not unusual. Out of the 2500 rounds of .223 I have in brass I've bought maybe 4 boxes of factory. The rest is reloads from pickups. Like the man said I love rich and or stupid people.

It's our disposable society that is the cause. Buy it, use it and then throw it away. But that's OK with me as the last time I sold my range picked up brass I walk out with over $800 in my pocket from the scrap yard.
