A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Did the UF55's come in mummy wrap? I have 2, one is brand new unfired, and the other one was sporterized a little, holes drilled for a scope (not by me).

thanks john , that was what i was fishing for , ive missplaced my cheat sheet and im not near my LES

my point being that just because someone claims an "irish" contract doesnt mean its so , and even if it were , what makes it more valuable than another contract , unless its still in the wrap

Well I have an Irish SMLE. FF on the knoxform (Fianna Fail), and a SMLE with R.I.C. on the stock disc plus two R.I.C, carbines. (one a Metford conversion and the other an Enfield conversion.

OOPs! forgot, also a "GENUWINE SHAMROCK ENFIELD" With the certificate from Ye Olde Hunter in Alexandria Virginia stating it was purchased from the Irish Government. Printed in green Ink with lots of shamrocks and one of the wee folk on it

I've also got an Irish SMLE (it was rebarreled around the 1950's, so no FF, but the re-numbered s/n is typical), an Irish MkI***, an RIC carbine, and a No4 Mk2 that falls in the Irish Contract range, and was most certainly issued by somebody.

Didn't pay any sort of premium for any of them...the Irish connection is a bit of marketing window dressing. Things Irish tend to be popular over here.

And I'd agree that the crazy in the case of the OP's Gunbroker link, would be anybody paying that sort of price.

I would imagine a lot of those Irish No4's weere used in the movie "The Blue Max" They used the Irish army for both sides and the only thing they changed was the HELMETS!
