Recent Carcano M91 "Cavalry Carbines from RTI

I have purchased a total of six "Cavalry Carbines" ranging in dates from 1899 to 1941. Three came from DK Firearms several months ago and three recent from RTI. I bought one of RTI's "Very Good" rated Carbines when the dropped the price about a month ago. I recently bought two more of their "Fair to Good" when they dropped the price on those to $99. I just received the last two and was pleasantly surprised. One is in "Good to Very Good" condition and the other in "Very Good" Condition. One is a 1941 FNA Brescia, barrel dated 1941 XIX. The other is a Cardone with a two digit, clearly stamped date of 36. However, the Roman Numeral date is clearly "XV". 1922 when Mussolini came to power plus 15 should be 1937. Has anyone seen a date discrepancy like this. I have not noticed any before.

Hi JJ, it is absolutely normal. The Fascist year began on October 21st, so all documents, guns etc produced before and after that date show different EF years (Era Fascista).

I received 3 today from the 99$ batch. Looks like 2 may be Ethiopian and have damaged stocks and gunked bores. Oddly one has a scope mount cut out. The third looks Italianicon with a round receiver with a matching stock. Front sight base has been pushed back about 4cm or so. Bayo assembly can be spread open fairly easily and it may just be loose.

So what I thought was a scope cut out is actually the cut outs for the tromboncino grenade launcher. I will be posting pics in a separate thread so as not to hijack.
