What ammo for Mini Palma matches

I have a 40x-HB that I am going to try mini palma with. What ammo is typically used for mini palma? I have shot wolf match out of the 40X and all holes were touching at 50 yards. The mini palma match at the local range is shot at 100 yards. Do I what a sub sonic or super sonic round? Also what is the difference between wolf match and wolf match extra? Thank you

stick with the standard velocity target ammo. Try a few more brands to see which shoots best at 100 yards. Some ammo will shoot well at 50, but opens up at 100. The wolf may do the trick or it may open up. Again, test your rifle and see what shots best. One thing though, every ammo company uses a different lube ob the bullet. You need to season the barrel before you shoot for score. This may take 15- 30 rounds or so to let the lube settle in. I would gently clean between the different ammo. One wet patch and a couple of dry patches should get it on track.JMHO

Rifles are touchy about 22RF ammo. Sometimes I've found the low price stuff shoots better than the high dollar ammo. One of the keys to consistancy with RF ammo is case rim thickness. There are several gages out there that will allow you to segregate your ammo and get more consistant results. Try several brands, find which one does best at 100yds, than sort by rim thickness and you'll be on track for good scores in your mini-palma matches.

I have seen really good results with the Fiocchi Biathalon and Wolf Match ammo in my 40X.

The ammo that shoots the best in my 40-XB prone rifle is Wolf Match Extra, it also likes RWS R50 and Laupua Master M. You will need to try several lots of ammo to find the one that shoots the best in your rifle. Contac Charlie Scott, he advertises on Benchrest Central and will sell you samples of different lots to try in your rifle so you can find the best lot before you lay down a bunch of money on a case of ammo. When you find a lot of ammo that shoots well buy as much of it as you can afford.
