    A Collectors View, The SMLE: question for the masses

    Greetings All

    I plan on printing the second part of A Collectors View this month which concentrates on the .22 Lee-Enfields. I had to cut them from the original as the SMLE book was getting too big.

    Per multiple requests this edition will be in hardcover but my question to you all is that I am going to put out a 2nd Edition of the SMLE book with corrections, editing, and better pictures(better camera!) also in hardcover.

    Would you all be interested in a hardcover of the 2nd edition? I have a wish list of those who did not get the first printing but if there is enough interest I will print more and save everyone a couple of bucks.

    Due to inflation and the hardcover it looks like it will be about $100/book plus shipping.

    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. I gather it will be slightly heavier than the S/C version will the postage stay the same or more to get them to Aus, with the exchange rate our $ AU is pretty weak against the green back at this time so could make for a fairly expensive endeavour for us over here.
    When do you think they will be available Lance.

    I should clarify about the postage bit in that to get my S/C edition over here to my side of Aus was the same price as the book think it was $70/USD for postage.

    So at the current rate USD/AUD

    Book at $100/USD =$159.60/Aud
    Postage will be @$70/USD =$111.72/Aud
    Total = $271.32/Aud

    I'd love to replace the S/C but seeing the Minister for Finance and War to buy another of almost the same book well lets just say I'm fond of my family jewels.
    I know its naught you can do about it Lance I'm just pointing out exactly how things escalate when our currency is so weak against the green back not sure on others out there.
    Plus I'm not pulling a wage anymore, I cannot get a pension at all from the govt even after nearly 49 years in the workforce but a govt politician who retires gets 70% of their annual wage as a pension after just 2 terms in office think their min annual is around $160-180,000/P.A
    So the pennies have to be seriously counted and no I wont sell one of my Ducati's..........!

    Normal international mail has returned but I have not figured out any postage until they arrive. Keep the jewels intact!

    I'm interesting the .22 book.

    I will probably pass on a second edition of the SMLE book.
