    20 Round SMLE Magazine

This was on a dealer's table at the Kempton Park fair in the UKicon. It is only the 2nd time I've seen one in the flesh. Pouches are dated 1916. Mag is marked Linley & Co. The asking price seemed to vary throughout the day but ended up as £2,000. I didn't buy it.

Nice...if it were here. they'd have us drilling a hole and inserting pop rivets to limit the capacity to five.

-In California it would have to be made into a 10-round but un-reversible; so pop rivets would not be allowed.

Yes that is where the Mags were sent which is why they are so scarce. Stop gap measure till the Bren manufacturing caught up

Yes, I gather that with a little modification they would fit the Vickers Berthier LMG.

In the last model of the Vickers-Berthier they fit without modification. And they fit in the NZicon Charlton Automatic Rifle.

A No4 20 round magazine sold about 2 years ago at (a UK) auction - I was out at £200 and it went a little (not much) higher.
Maybe I should have stayed in a bit longer !

    This was it ....................

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I thought the concensus was that one was modern as it had tig welding on the base?
