I found this interesting picture of Vietnamese reserve use of the M16A1.
Apparently they are still used and locally refurbished, with new locally made plumb coloured furniture.
I certainly never saw one in this configuration in the early 90's when I travelled there, plenty still in use in standard A1 configuration back then, but none obviously refurbished.
Interesting, I would love to see more detailed pics.

A set of that furniture would make for an interesting addition to an M-16 collection.
It certainly would, the bright yellow plastic butt plate screams 3d printing to me...
One would expect if the Chinese decided to pour into the Lang Son Valley again (I think they still feel the world of hurt the Vietnamese dished out to them in 79) they would be spraying the furniture and the bright gleaming aluminium matt black a bit bloody quick...
