    Another K31. Is it walnut?

    Got this at auction. Bid weeks ago and forgot about it.
    What kind of wood does it have? Walnut?

    Yep,that is the walnut. Doesn't look too chewed up by the buttplate. Good pick up!

    That is Walnut which means the rifle should be 1943 or earlier. Stock should be dated under the butt plate I think which you want to check for a tag anyway.

    I will check for a tag but I’m starting to think stock won’t match. SN is 227*** which dates it to 1954 if my googlejitsu is effective. Oh well.

    Here is my other walnut that matches gun. All numbers match. 179***. Dates 1944 unless I’m wrong. Please correct if necessary.
    Not best picture ever. Wood looks very good as does rest of rifle.

    It's possible they found a few walnut stocks around and used them up as a replacement stock. See if the numbers match inside.

    Pictures don’t show the tang. Mag matches number on bolt. Only numbers I see.
