Scant is stamped S in the cutoff, so an early one, made in '42.
The stamps both look "new", or done near the same time. It would seem that one was from the rebuild in '42, when it received the replacement stock, and the other a mear reinspection.
I have at least twenty single letter inspectors initial's after the AA plus I found another 1903 scant stock (s in cut off) with AAHO in a rectangle, AA small R 2 on a M1 gas trap stock. Both
the Model 1917 and M1 rifle rebuilds can be found with the AA plus stamps. Also have seen a AA1204 stamp too
