P14 DP Safe?
Hi Folks,
I have a complete P14 DP Rifle that has a barrel with a different serial no. from the receiver, bolt and sight which are all the same. I have fired blanks with no issues.
The barrel is in pristine condition. I am assuming the barrel was replaced to make this rifle fully operational. I'm wondering what people here have to say about my assumption.
Thanks for any help.

There are at least two dozen threads here speaking against use of a "DP" rifle. One of the men that used to do the "DP" or other deac work spoke clearly against using them. Still, there are many that will come forward and tell you how they "Look" perfect and can be used, after all how bad can it be? They've been deactivated for a reason. We have no idea what that reason was.
Anything marked "DP" should be treated as a trophy only for looking and not shooting.

It's better to be safe than sorry, blanks might be all right but don't shoot Ball ammo in it.

Thanks Jim,
Good advice. Unfortunately the Pro who would know is no longer with us
I'll advertise as a DP with appropriate warnings. Do not want anyone hurt.
Thanks,
Mike

I would say no , and heii no. How much is an eye ball or finger worth. If you must, take it to an Enfield gunsmith and have the bolt checked for small cracks, the bolt headspaced, and the receiver checked for wear or cracks. Make sure the barrel replacement was done right. Use some caution, blanks for reenacting I' say OK. What does the brass look like on a blank after firing. It should look the same.
It is best to buy a better condition shooter not a DP wall hanger for target firing or surplus rifle matches. My 2 cents of unwanted suggestions.
