Here is a very nice original double stamp Ithaca picked up a few years ago on a little auction. Beautiful shape, with some neat heat treatment discoloring on the slide.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. According to Meadows in his book, US Military Automatic Pistols 1920 - 1945, they are replacement slides. However, the requirement to mark them that way was dropped in October 1943, and Ithaca used the ones they still had in inventory on original production pistols, including some in the serial number range as your gun.
