    Double stamp Ithaca

Here is a very nice original double stamp Ithaca picked up a few years ago on a little auction. Beautiful shape, with some neat heat treatment discoloring on the slide.

According to Meadows in his book, US Military Automatic Pistols 1920 - 1945, they are replacement slides. However, the requirement to mark them that way was dropped in October 1943, and Ithaca used the ones they still had in inventory on original production pistols, including some in the serial number range as your gun.
