A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Still kicking, I'd say.

Here's one of the last sent to Nepal in the 1908-9 shipment.

All deacts or exempt? I thought South Africans were only allowed one rifle, one pistol and one shotgun these days?

    It all depends.
There are different gategories for self defence, sport and hunting, and collectors. And restrictions on ammunition. And gunsmiths, business, shops, transport, manufactuing, etc.
I can be a collector, hunt and sport, and have firearms for self defence. Or any combination with their own restrictions.
Each firearm requires its own licence application.

As for the original topic of the thread, most of us are to some extent I think aware that the world is changing rapidly and one's hobbies though they can be a distraction from that, increasingly seem rather pointless in comparison to more pressing matters.

Dead is a relative term. A good example of "very dead" is gunco.net. This forum has plenty of life compared to...
