US Marked Ross MkII *** Missing Band Screws

    Hello All

I recently acquired a US Marked MKII *** Ross in very nice condition. The only thing that has me puzzled is that its missing the screws for the front and middle bands. Are these screws just common slotted wood screws, or are they a machine screw? There are no threaded fixtures imbedded in the stock to accept a machine screw like the Mk III has.

Its amazing that the possibility of the front band only being held on with a wood screw and expect it support the use of a bayonet.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The machine screw goes through the stock into a threaded ring that fits around the barrel. There should be relieve cuts for the ring in the forestock wood. This is from my poor memory and too lay to dig one out of storage.

My 3* has a shouldered wood screw alone, no barrel sleeve w/ nut.

Thanks for your feedback. Its odd that only the wood screw would have been used. Glad these rifles never made it to the front for the US, as they would have been falling apart from the screws falling out.
