Is this a genuine type 95?

Good afternoon,

I spotted a sword up for auction, purely by accident and it looked wrong. It's described as a Type 95 NCO sword.

The auction house is Ashley Waller, here in the UK the lot number is 333 and the auction starts am on the 30th August 23.

A JAPANESE NCO'S SWORD AND SCABBARD, 64.5CM BLADE, TOTAL LENGTH 97CM

I came across the lot when I was researching markings for an early NCO type 95 that I have seen in an other auction, the serial is around the 1500 mark and has a copper tsuka. I'm going to bid on it. If I'm successful, I'll upload some images.

not had contact with you for a long time, hope you are well.

I spotted this sword when I was researching one for sale, I've since emailed the auction house and they are looking into it. It has to be a dodgy one, I've never seen one like it.
The one I was hoping to purchase went for £1400, definitely worth it in my opinion, the best I've seen, with copper hilt and with a low serial number in the 1500's. Wish I'd bought it now, but the bidding would have carried on to £2000 I suspect.

Not much happening here, shooting once a week and building a collection of heavy ordnance and some foreign hand weapons. I only have one Katana here, a definite copy made in China. Time is past when they were priced reasonably, now they're all locked in collections.

wow, heavy ordnance, you must have a decent storage facility! You're certainly keeping the collecting going. I've just packed in target shooting, my T is with a dealer for sale. My certificates have now expired. One of my sons has my shotguns so that I can shoot them when I go out with him, I have a nice old damascus barrelled hammer gun, now around 125 years old and nitro proofed.

I started with the swords about 3 years ago, they were expensive then but not as bad as they are now. I have a 700 year old blade, possibly 2 400 year old blades, 1 definite.
I'm refurbing 4 of the others, 1 is a tanto.

I just looked and there seems to not be a feature for that now, like you say. I just come here twelve times a day and check.

Not so much, here's an example. I guess you could call it large cartridge collecting. Wish I could get some of the stuff advertised in the UK.

That's a nice looking collection you have, what I've seen for sale over here, don't look as in good condition as yours. I suspect you've done quite a bit of work on the collection to get them looking so good.

I've been downsizing my collecting for years. I started with two Ford Ferguson tractors, both 2NAN's and built 1943. Then a rebuild of a Series II E type open top. Then onto motorcycles. Then onto shooting and now Japanese swords. The items always reducing in size.

I don't know if you have seen the news reported over the past few days here and in Canada, it reports a "search" currently going on for the Loch Ness monster, the biggest in fifty years. I mentioned this because I was born and grew up not far from Loch Ness, also, my grandfather probably caused more false sightings than any other individual.

I suspect you've done quite a bit of work on the collection to get them looking so good.

I have done some work, I don't like scrubby looking stuff. I just procured today a .76mm complete that is a CDN and not bad shape. This is one from our Cougar AVGP. Those are hard to find, considering how many I watched fired...

You have built a very nice collection. I look forward to you uploading a photo of your latest acquisition once you're ready to show it.

There seems to be a lot of replica items for sale and a lot of trench art too, I suspect some of the trench art was made quite recently to satisfy the market. You have to be careful, there's a lot of counterfeit stuff about.

Most of the "Trench art" is actually WW2 stuff and not even real trench art. People no longer seem to know what that means. Yes, I'll beware.
