I need help from Webley experts- Webley Pryse No 4 SNs and manufacture dates?

    hello Webley aficionados,

I'm hoping to buy a Webley Pryse No 4, but I have to be able to prove that it is made before 1898 for Canadianicon import as an antique. I don't have any Webley reference books and @armsresearch.co.uk was unable to assist because of lost records. Retailer was Cogswell and Harrison but they don't seem to answer their contact emails, so not sure if they have any retail data

Anyone have any way to prove that this piece is pre-1998 based on the SN or certain manufacturing variation details? It is in .450 Adams and not .475 or .455, so perhaps that helps?

    Webley & Scott Pryse NO.4 .450CF 4"bbl Blued

SN is 2267- so quite low/early perhaps. According to ArmsResearch the No 4 was made until just before WW1, ending in SN range of 12,000, but based on the recent C&Arsenal video on youtube there were 3 batches of SNs for these revolvers.

    Any insights welcome. Thanks.

Richard Millner is on this site and might be able to help you.
The records are gone but Richard might be willing to give you a ball park figure and he is well known among the government agencies
