    Bullet jacket stuck in bore

I have a savage no4 mk1* Enfield that appears to have a bullet jacket stuck about an inch into the lead, are there any recommendations on how to get it out? I tried a metal rod about bore diameter to tap it out and it won't budge. Hanging it on the wall and re-barreling are not really an option. Gotta be an old trick somewhere, any help is appreciated.

Maybe something that will dissolve the copper enough to loosen it without damaging the bore?

Take it to a competent gunsmith.
Putting a steel rod down and hitting it may cause damage to the bore.

When I had my gunsmithing shop, customers brought in rifles with a variety of barrel blockages. Some very imaginative.
The worst cases were those where unsuccessful attempts had been made to get the obstruction out.

Get the rifle to a competent gunsmith.

Incidentally, why do you think it is a bullet jacket, and not a bullet?

I came across this awhile back when a friend needed help. His Smith made a Lead plug, filled the barrel with oil and punched it out, like a hydraulic ram. Similar story in this link:

You could try to Cerrosafe casting that might grab the jacket. Plug just in front of the blockage, pour in melted CS and then tap it out with a rod toward the chamber. Should be available at Midway or Brownell's.

Put the barreled action in a freezer for a day or two to see if that will loosen it.
